SEO & Support Services Bug Fixing
SEO & Support Services Bug Fixing
Something broke — and you need it fixed correctly, not just patched. We diagnose WordPress errors, plugin conflicts, broken functionality, and failed updates at the root cause level, fix them on staging first, and deploy verified solutions to your live site with full documentation of what changed and why.
What This Service Covers Diagnosis first — then a fix that actually holds
Most WordPress bugs have a specific, identifiable cause. A plugin conflict after an update. A PHP version incompatibility. A CSS change that broke a layout. A theme function overriding a plugin hook incorrectly. A database table prefix mismatch after a migration. We find the specific cause — not just the symptom — and fix it in a way that survives future updates rather than creating a new problem the next time something changes.
Plugin & Theme Conflict Diagnosis
Plugin conflicts are the most common cause of WordPress site breakage — two plugins modifying the same hook, a plugin incompatible with your current PHP version, a plugin that works correctly individually but produces errors in combination with others on your site. We diagnose conflicts systematically using safe mode testing, error log analysis, and staged plugin deactivation to isolate the source — then fix or replace the conflicting component without disrupting the rest of your site.
We also handle theme and child theme conflicts — including cases where a parent theme update has overwritten customisations that weren’t correctly isolated in a child theme.
White Screen of Death & PHP Fatal Errors
A WordPress white screen of death or PHP fatal error can take your entire site offline — including the admin dashboard, making diagnosis harder. We recover access via FTP/SFTP file manipulation or wp-config debug mode, identify the exact line of code triggering the error from the PHP error log, and fix the underlying cause. If the error was introduced by an update, we patch or roll back the specific component responsible.
WooCommerce-specific errors — checkout failures, order processing errors, payment gateway conflicts, and product display bugs — are handled with particular care given the revenue impact of store downtime.
Failed Updates & Migration Issues
WordPress core, plugin, and PHP version updates sometimes break existing functionality — particularly on sites with older, bespoke, or poorly maintained codebases. We audit what changed, identify the specific compatibility breakages, and produce a fix that either updates the conflicting code to work with the new version or provides a supported migration path. We don’t roll back updates indefinitely — the underlying compatibility issue is addressed.
Post-migration bugs — broken URLs, missing media, incorrect database table references, white-labelled content from the old domain — are diagnosed and fixed as a structured post-migration audit.
Frontend Bugs, Layout Breaks & JavaScript Errors
Visual and interactive bugs — broken layouts, elements overlapping incorrectly, JavaScript errors in the console causing UI components to fail, responsive design breakage on specific screen sizes — are diagnosed through browser developer tools, cross-device testing, and source code inspection. We fix CSS specificity conflicts, JavaScript execution errors, enqueueing order issues, and render-blocking conflicts between scripts.
Frontend fixes are verified across the most common browser and device combinations before being deployed to production, and visual regression is checked to confirm nothing adjacent to the fix was broken by the change.
How We Work Staging first — production only after verification
All fixes are developed and tested on a staging environment before being applied to the live site. This is non-negotiable for us — applying untested fixes directly to a live site risks replacing one problem with a different, potentially worse, one. If you don’t have a staging environment, we create one as part of the engagement before beginning diagnosis.
Every fix is accompanied by a brief explanation of what the root cause was, what was changed, and how to avoid the same issue in future. We don’t leave you with a working site and no understanding of what happened.
Platforms & Technologies Where we diagnose and fix WordPress bugs
Recurring bugs mean a structural problem, not bad luck
If the same category of bug keeps appearing on your site — plugin conflicts after updates, layout breaks when new content is added, recurring JavaScript errors in the console — the problem isn’t individual bugs. It’s a maintenance gap: updates happening without testing, code changes being made without version control, or a theme or plugin architecture that makes conflicts inevitable. Our maintenance retainer plans address this at the structural level, combining update management, pre-update testing, and monthly site health reviews that catch issues before they become visible problems.
Bug fixing and related services we deliver
From one-off emergency fixes to structured support that prevents bugs from happening in the first place.
Emergency Bug Fix
Fast-turnaround fixes for bugs causing site downtime or critical functional failures — white screens, checkout errors, broken admin access, or payment processing failures prioritised for same or next business day resolution.
Plugin / Theme Conflict Resolution
Systematic diagnosis and resolution of plugin and theme conflicts — including fixing child theme override issues, resolving hook conflicts, and replacing abandoned plugins causing compatibility problems.
WooCommerce Bug Fixing
Checkout flow errors, payment gateway failures, order management issues, product display bugs, and cart calculation problems — diagnosed and fixed with priority given to issues affecting live transactions.
Post-Update Regression Fix
Diagnosis and resolution of functionality broken by a WordPress core, plugin, or PHP version update — with a tested fix rather than an indefinite rollback.
Security Audits
Some site errors are security symptoms — injected redirects, broken pages from malware, or blocked functionality from hardening misconfigurations. Our security audit identifies the full picture.
Maintenance Retainers
Prevent bugs before they happen with managed updates, pre-update testing, and monthly site health reviews — included in all maintenance retainer plans.
Frequently asked questions
Common questions about WordPress bug fixing and site error resolution.
For critical errors causing site downtime — white screens, broken checkouts, inaccessible admin — we target same or next business day resolution. Turnaround depends on the complexity of the diagnosis; some bugs are identifiable and fixable within hours, others require more systematic testing. We communicate an estimated timeline after the initial assessment, which typically takes 1–2 hours.
Yes — most of our bug fixing work involves third-party themes, plugins, or site configurations we didn’t originally set up. We work with any WordPress installation regardless of who built it. The one exception is bugs in commercial themes or plugins that are caused by the vendor’s code and require the vendor to release an update — in those cases we identify the issue, document it clearly, and provide a workaround while the vendor fix is pending.
A description of the issue and when it started (e.g. after an update, after a content change), WordPress admin access, and FTP or SFTP access to the site files. Screenshots or a screen recording of the visible error are helpful. PHP error log access speeds up diagnosis significantly. The more context you can provide about what changed before the issue appeared, the faster the diagnosis — but if you don’t know what changed, we can work from the error logs.
If the same issue recurs within 30 days of a fix we delivered, we investigate and resolve it at no additional cost. Recurrence after a fix usually means either the root cause diagnosis was incomplete (our responsibility) or something external changed — a new plugin update, a hosting environment change, or new content that triggers an edge case. We’ll determine which and address accordingly.
For most bug fixes, yes — changes are made on staging and only deployed to the live site after verification. Some fixes require brief maintenance mode (under 10 minutes typically) for database changes or file replacements. We always notify you in advance if any live-site downtime is required, and schedule it for a low-traffic window where possible.
